Sell your home this Autumn: the Mclarens way

August 31st 2020

As the weather gets colder, and we start accepting the reality: that summer is well and truly behind us; it is time to gear up to the Autumn months.

With every new season, brings a new decision. So perhaps now is the time to put your property on the market. Luckily for you, the team at Mclarens estate agents, based in Dorking, Surrey, we’re on-hand to help you embrace Autumn with some fantastic tips to help you sell your home.

First of all, let us set the image.

It’s a mild September morning. The sun is rising a little later, the leaves are turning golden, and ripe apples are hanging from the trees. You will need a little extra layer to leave the house, and it’s certainly the time to start thinking about putting your log-fire on, or set your heating to timed. Children are back to school after a somewhat confusing end to their 2020 school term, and a new normal is due to start again.

As you look to the future, you feel it’s time to change. It’s time to put your property on the market, but where do you start?

Picture perfect: After you’ve selected your agent (after your initial interrogation, of course), it’s time to paint that picture to help you get the right offer for you. That picture comes in the form of professional photography that show off the best assets to your house.

But before your property’s photoshoot, you need to showcase the best elements Autumn has to offer, and not the worse.

People want to see your garden, and not the leaves that is covering up your hidden delights. Trim back you wilted or dead plants, and make sure all of your guttering is clear of any seasonal obstacles. Then, not only will you achieve dreamy photography. But you’ll also impress viewings time and time again.

Light it up: As the days start to get shorter, darkness will follow, and nobody wants to view a house in the dark. So now is the time to ensure all of your lightbulbs are working and leave some soft lighting on in the house ready for your viewings.

Heat is up: Now, we are not saying your property needs to be a furnace when potential buyers are having a look around their next possible home. But you want it to be cosy. Get the mood and feeling right from the beginning, and it sets possible buyers off on the right track.

Add a little cosiness: There’s nothing better than finishing a hard days’ work, and wrapping up on the sofa in a blanket on a cold autumnal evening. From throws to cushions, rugs and a warming fire. All of these small touches help your potential buyers see your property as a potential home.

Embrace autumnal senses: Who said a door wreath is just for Christmas? Why not Autumn (or any other season, for that matter)?

From wreaths to flowers, cosy wax melts and LED candles. All can set the perfect mood for your autumnal property listing.
